ABOUT US

Glenbard All Breed Obedience Club, Inc. (GABOC) is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to educating owners to train their dogs in basic and advanced obedience skills. We train on Monday and Tuesday nights. Our qualified instructors and assistants are club members with years of experience training and showing dogs.  Our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and CGC/Beginner II classes are designed to give you and your dog everything you need to earn the Canine Good Citizen title from AKC. Classes are designed for the person who just wants a well-mannered companion dog or for those who want to succeed in the show ring. Many of our members are active in obedience, agility, water rescue, herding, therapy dog work, and tracking. Your dog does not have to be purebred to participate in GABOC training activities.

OBEDIENCE TRAINING

Levels from Puppy to Beginner and on to Advanced. We offer both drop-in obedience classes & 8 to10-week structured classes. Our classes prepare you for competition as well as address problems you may be experiencing with your dog. Our Puppy class curriculum is based on the AKC Star Puppy Program. Our Beginner II class curriculum includes what AKC has established for the Canine Good Citizen test.

CONFORMATION

Emphasis on the show ring

Our instructors provide valuable feedback on how your dog is showing, moving, and stacking.

You and your dog are moved both individually and as a group to give you a good feel for working in the show ring.

CORRECTION MATCHES

Great Practice

GABOC hosts 5 correction matches per year and a Super Match the week of our annual Obedience Trial.

Correction matches are a great opportunity to prepare you and your dog for your next trial.

OBEDIENCE/RALLY TRIALS

Show your dog in rally or obedience.

Our annual AKC All Breed Obedience trial is held the first weekend in November. Classes are offered in rally and obedience.

AGILITY TRIALS

Agility is a crowd pleaser

Three times a year we put on an agility trial at various venues around the area.

However, we do not have Agility classes at our club due to lack of space and equipment.

TRACKING

finaltracking2.jpg

Teaches your dog to use their nose.  Teaches you to learn to read your dog.  Prepares you for entering local tracking tests.

Watch for this to return soon!

RALLY

Rally has become very popular.

Our instructors set a course from Novice to Masters. Our instructors take time to advise and encourage you, helping to prepare you for your next Rally trial.  Sign up online under Book Online to reserve your spot.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

LINNEA H., Wheaton

After losing our 13 year old lab, we were heart broken. Getting a new puppy seemed like a good idea, but we underestimated the task of training her. GABOC was wonderful! Staff were obvious dog lovers. They patiently answered questions about my puppy’s life. They gave us a handout for suggested work at home each week. This was so valuable.I highly recommend this class to anyone who has a young dog.

TRACIE C., West Chicago

Luca and I originally took both the puppy and beginner classes offered through GABOC due to their location. However, the patience and knowledge that the instructors shared are second to none! Luca's skills quickly improved with the fun, weekly homework tips!

LK, Carol Stream

I've brought a number of my dogs to Glenbard over the past few years. Like a number of dog clubs, some of the instructors are exploring and embracing new teaching methods. The location is convenient and they offer a full range of classes from beginning puppies, all levels of competition obedience, rally and confirmation. Any dog is welcome, no matter what breed or mix.
