Glenbard All Breed Obedience Club, Inc. (GABOC) is a not-for-profit, all volunteer organization dedicated to educating owners to train their dogs in basic and advanced obedience skills. We train on Monday nights. Our qualified instructors and assistants are club members with years of experience training and showing dogs.  Our AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and CGC/Beginner classes are designed to give you and your dog everything you need to earn the Canine Good Citizen title from AKC. Classes are designed for the person who just wants a well mannered companian dog or for those who want to succeed in the show ring. Many of our members are active in agility, water rescue, herding, therapy dog work and tracking. Your dog does not have to be a purebred to participate in GABOC training activities.

Levels for the beginner to advanced

We offer both drop in obedience classes and 10-week structured classes. Our classes prepare you for the ring as well as address any problems you may be experiencing. Our structured class are based on the curriculum AKC has established for the CGC test.

Emphasis on the show ring

Drop in Conformation classes begin at 8:15.  Our instructors provide valuable feed-back on how your dog is showing, moving and stacking.

You and your dog are moved both individually and as a group to give you a good feel for woking in the show ring

Great Practice

GABOC hosts 4 fun/correction matches per year and a Super Match the Friday before our annual Obedience Trial.

Fun matches are a great opportunity to prepare you and your dog for your next trial.

Show your dog in rally or obedience

Our annual AKC All Breed Obedience trial is held the first weekend in November. Classes are offered in rally and obedience.

Agility is a crowd pleaser

Three times a year we put on an agility trial at various venues around the area.

Teaching your dog to use their nose

We are fortunate to have our very own Tracking judge coordinating training.

Tracking practice takes place every Sunday. All levels of Tracking tests are held throughout the year.

Rally has become very popular

Our instructors set a course for novice to advanced. Put your name on the white board near the ring to secure your spot in line. Our instructors take time to advise and encourage you, helping to prepare you for your next Rally trial

Try something new

Our members are involved in many different activities with their dogs. Herding, water rescue, carting, therapy dog visiting, and trick dog.  We have offered classes in carting and may offer classes in some of these other interests.

LINNEA H., Wheaton

After losing our 13 year old lab, we were heart broken. Getting a new puppy seemed like a good idea, but we underestimated the task of training her. GABOC was wonderful! Staff were obvious dog lovers. They patiently answered questions about my puppy’s life. They gave us a handout for suggested work at home each week. This was so valuable.I highly recommend this class to anyone who has a young dog.

TRACIE C., West Chicago

Luca and I originally took both the puppy and beginner classes offered through GABOC due to their location. However, the patience and knowledge that the instructors shared are second to none! Luca's skills quickly improved with the fun, weekly homework tips!

LK, Carol Stream

I've brought a number of my dogs to Glenbard over the past few years. Like a number of dog clubs, some of the instructors are exploring and embracing new teaching methods. The location is convenient and they offer a full range of classes from beginning puppies, all levels of competition obedience, rally and confirmation. Any dog is welcome, no matter what breed or mix.
