Drop-In
Novice I class is held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday nights, and a fee is collected for that night’s training. No pre-registration is required; you only pay for the nights that you train. This class continues what you learned in the CGC Beginners class, but refines the techniques and introduces what is expected in the Novice ring at an obedience trial. It explains proper collar selection and fit, leash selection, and the proper way to make a correction. Exercises covered are:
Proper heel position including sit at the halt – heeling is done on leash

Sit and down stay
A short evaluation may be required for students that did not participate in the GABOC’s Beginners Class. This is to insure that all of the dogs are ready for the Novice I level.
Novice II class is held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday nights. This is our “Ring Ready” class, and gets dogs and handlers ready to enter AKC obedience trials to earn their Companion Dog title. You will refine your handling skills, sharpen up each exercise, and tweak the “front and finish”. You will learn what judges are looking for, what will cause you to lose points, and what you may be “non-qualified” for. You will also learn how to find obedience trials to enter, and how to complete an AKC entry form.
Open I class is held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday nights. This class teaches the individual Open exercises performed in the “Open” ring at an AKC trial. We will work with handlers and dogs having problems with exercises. Exercises taught include:
Holding and retrieving a dumbell
Retrieve over the high jump
Command discrimination
Drop on recall
Broad jump
Off leash work
Open II class is held at 7:30 on Monday nights. This is our “Ring Ready” class. It refines handling skills and gets dog/handler teams ready to enter AKC obedience trials to earn their Companion Dog eXcellent title. You will sharpen up each exercise, and perfect the “front and finish”. You will learn what Open judges are looking for, what will cause you to lose points, and what you may be “non-qualified” for. The class helps dog/handler teams having trouble with any exercise. Open run thrus are given when the team is ready.

Utility class is held at 8:15 p.m. on Monday nights. This class teaches the individual Utility exercises performed in the “Utility” ring at an AKC trial. We will work with handlers and dogs having problems with exercises. Exercises taught include:
Signal exercise
Scent discrimination
Directed retrieve
Moving stand
Directed jumping
Advanced handlers can get a run-thru.

Rally Run-Thrus begin at 7:30 on Monday nights. The sign-in board allows one handler/dog in the ring at a time.

You may switch dogs up to two times in each class
