  Let
Us Introduce Ourselves.......
Glenbard
All Breed Obedience Club, Inc. (GABOC) is a not-for-profit, all
volunteer organization dedicated to educating dog owners to train
their companion animals in basic and advanced obedience skills.
We
believe that an animal who knows and understands the five basic
commands (heel, sit, down, stay, and come) is a better companion
animal than one without training
Training
activities are scheduled year round, except for the month of July.
Classes start at 6 p.m. and continue throughout the evening at
45-minute intervals, with the last classes at 9 p.m.
Our
qualified instructors and assistants are club members with years
of experience training and showing dogs. Under the auspices of
the Director of Training, instructors and their classes are continuously
evaluated.
GABOC
members participate in demonstrations and exhibitions; compete
in obedience, tracking, agility, the breed ring and other avenues
of dog-type activities.
We
present educational seminars on dog-related topics, such as:
Wellness
Clinic: including vaccinations, heartworm,and eyes,
Permanent identification: microchipping and tattooing,
Responsible pet ownership,
How to select a breed,
The law, you, and your dog,
How to enter your first dog show/trial
GABOC
holds an annual obedience trial the first Saturday and Sunday
in November. The trial's attendance consistently ranks in the
top ten in the United States. Volunteers are always needed and
welcome. GABOC also offers fun obedience matchs throughout the
year. Please see the current schedule for the months that we will
be holding our matches. Spectators are welcome. Even better, volunteer
to steward (judge's helpers) and learn 'hands on' about the wonderful
sport of dog obedience!
Your
dog does not have to be a purebred to participate in GABOC training
activities.
